Tree of the Week

Mature Engelmann SpruceEnglemann Spruce

Picea engelmannii--Engelmann Spruce

Hardiness Zones: 2 to 5
Height: 60 ft
Spread: 20 ft
Form: pyramidal
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree
Annual Growth Rate: less than 12 inches

Comments: Engelmann Spruce is a narrow plant that, on a good site, can grow larger than the sizes listed. It is adaptable to many site, including some wetter sites where other spruces won't perform well. The bark forms scales that peel away. This tree is considered more desirable than Blue Spruce, but it is not as readily available.
