Austrian Pines in screening formationAustrian pine

Pinus nigra--Austrian Pine

Hardiness Zones: 3 to 7
Height: 60 ft Spread: 40 ft Form: pyramidal
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches or more

Comments: Austrian Pine will tolerate dryness, exposure and road salt. Its dark green, long needles make for excellent screening material where road salt tolerance is required. The tree is susceptible to diplodia tip blight and Zimmerman pine moth, and for this reason should probably not be used in some other landscapes (substitute Red Pine instead).
